Flood Survivors with Ties to Our Community
We were concerned....
about the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma and wanted to do something. Since we try to stick with helping in our community, we looked for ties to South Carolina and found two: Puerto Rico and Humble, Texas.
I have a colleague with family in Puerto Rico who suffered the loss of a family member. As you might imagine, the Puerto Rican people were in need of everything.
I have a dear friend who is from S.C. and now lives and teaches in Humble, Texas. A town with a population of about 15,000 within the Houston Metro area. She knew many families who still were struggling after months.
